Vallierteck Chapel
The foundation story of this chapel is well-known and is, according to tradition, based on help in the nick of time that came from Mary, Mother of God.
Two children of a farmer who sat on a hay cart fell into the Vallierteck gorge together with the draught animals. The farmer swore to build a chapel for the Mother of God on this spot, if his children should still be alive. Filled with fear and fright he went down the gorge and found his children and the animals, all unharmed. He kept his promise and built a small chapel. This chapel, a wayside shrine, was directly built on the spot where the accident had happened. Due to danger of landslide, however, it was later moved to where it is still today and rebuilt as a small church. Many people have come to the Vallierteck chapel for prayer since its establishment and even many single pilgrims and hikers visit this forest chapel again and again.
Rogation and thanksgiving processions to the pilgrimage chapel are held every year.
The pilgrimage chapel is situated on half way between the village of Resia and the Resia alpine pasture along the hiking path near Vallierteck.
